ABOUT US
GETTING OUT
BY GOING IN (GOGI) is dedicated to the release
preparation of incarcerated men, women and children.
GETTING
OUT BY GOING IN provides simple tools for making
positive choices. Delivered in our books, workbooks,
workshops and classroom settings, GOGI is focused on one
thing: Positive Choices.
The GOGI program is designed to help participants
“Get Out” of old behavior by “Going In” for
self-improvement. Our coaches empower the individual
with information, opportunity and support for lasting
change.
Coach
Mara Leigh Taylor is a “Champion for Change,”
excelling in the field of personal and professional
excellence for more than a decade. Through her work with
incarcerated individuals, she developed RapidChange Therapy,
a proven methodology for rapid and lasting behavioral and
cognitive modification.
Working within the Federal
and State penal systems with incarcerated individuals to
share techniques of RapidChange Therapy, Mara Leigh Taylor
is affectionately known as “Coach” Taylor. Her unofficial
title evolved from initial uncertainty on the part of
inmates, and it eventually helped define her reputation.
When
I first began working with inmates, they didn’t really
know what to call me. I wasn’t trying to ‘correct’ or
convert them. I was simply sharing RapidChange Therapy
tools which result in lasting changes. I told them I was
sort of a coach of the mind, so they began referring to
me as ‘Coach’ Taylor.
By any name, the results of her efforts elicited hundreds
of positive responses from both juvenile and adult inmates
in the Federal and State penal system.
Coach Taylor began volunteer workshops
for positive decision making with Federal inmates in 2002.
In 2005 she founded the California-based non-profit Getting
Out by Going In to serve the 2.3 million incarcerated men,
women and children in the United States. In three short
years more than 1,000 inmates have directly participated in
the GOGI workshops and classes and more than 2,000 GOGI
books have been gifted to requesting incarcerated
individuals across the U.S.
GOGI Campus
In a pilot program with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s
Department, Coach Taylor designed and facilitated the first
Coordinated Community Collaboration Reentry project, GOGI
Campus. Participating inmates receive on-going community and
psychological support from GOGI Coaches before, during and
after their release. GOGI Campus is the first continuum care
project of its kind and a model for future reentry GOGI
Campus sites. GOGI Campus is a replicable reentry program,
providing much-needed coordinated community support for
successful reentry.
RapidChange Therapy
Coach Taylor designed and developed the brief therapy
modality, RapidChange Therapy, a cognitive tool-based theory
for incarcerated and at-risk men, women and children.
Effective for implementation when therapy sessions may be
limited, RapidChange Therapy offers individuals a simple set
of cognitive tools to aid future cognitions. The core
RapidChange Therapy tools are simplified in Coach Taylor’s
first book for inmates, Prison: Getting Out by Going In.
Training & Certification of Coaches
Coach Taylor leads on-going training of Masters and PsyD
level practicum and intern therapists and psychologists who
earn their certification as “Coach” with a competency in
administering the RapidChange Therapy tools.
Private Practice
Coach Taylor maintains an exclusive and referral-only
based private practice for entertainment industry executives
in Southern California.
